How to clean, inspect and look after your aluminium pergola, glass roof panels and louvres through the seasons.
Aluminium pergolas from Veraforza are designed for minimal maintenance. However, a simple seasonal care routine will keep your pergola looking its best and ensure all mechanical and electrical components continue to function perfectly. This guide covers everything you need to know about maintaining your Veraforza pergola.
Annual Pergola Maintenance Checklist
- Clean aluminium frame with mild soapy water and a soft cloth
- Check and clear gutters and drainage channels
- Inspect roof panels (glass or louvres) for chips or cracks
- Test all motorised functions and remote controls
- Check LED connections and replace any faulty strips
- Inspect anchoring bolts and tighten if necessary
- Lubricate any moving parts with a silicone-based spray
- Check silicone seals around glass panels and re-seal if cracking
Cleaning Your Aluminium Pergola
Powder-coated aluminium does not rust, rot or require painting. To clean the frame, use warm water with a small amount of washing-up liquid and a non-abrasive cloth or sponge. Rinse with clean water. Avoid high-pressure jet washing directly onto joints or electrical components.
Caring for Glass Roof Panels
Clean glass panels with a window cleaning solution and a squeegee. For retractable glass roof systems, ensure the tracks are clear of debris before operating the mechanism. Check the rubber seals periodically and replace if they show signs of wear.
Caring for Bioclimatic Louvres
The rotating louvres on a bioclimatic pergola should be wiped clean with a damp cloth when fully open. Check the motor mechanism every season to ensure smooth operation. If you notice the louvres are slow to respond or making unusual noise, contact our aftercare team.
Winter Preparation
Veraforza pergolas are engineered for UK weather conditions including frost, rain and wind. No special winterisation is required. However, in areas prone to heavy snowfall, we recommend closing louvres fully during prolonged snow to avoid excess load on the roof mechanism.
